Mellon Poland was awarded the prestigious Ruban d’ Honneur accolade under the category “The Atradius Growth Strategy of the Year Award” of the European Business Awards 2009. Gregory Kotoulas, General Manager of Mellon Poland, received the award during a special ceremony held in Rome on April 7 2009, with the presence of prominent representatives from the political, business and academic European community.

‘The Atradius Growth Strategy of the Year Award’ was nominated to the top 10 companies across Europe that could best demonstrate an organic growth strategy and have achieved outstanding levels of sales, profit and market share improvement. Mellon Poland, based in Warsaw, has achieved an impressive growth since its launch in 2006 based on a solid growth strategy that has granted the company a place amongst the 2009 Ruban d’ Honneur winners.

The European Business Awards, a fully independent programme, recognizes and celebrates business excellence across the 27 EU member states. The European Business Awards cover ten categories and this year more than 7000 applications were received from companies across Europe.

The Ruban d’ Honneur winners are selected following a thorough assessment of the apposite entry applications and a personal interview with the European Advisory Panel of senior executives, economists and top academics. Among them, for the Category ‘The Atradius Growth Strategy of the Year Award’ were Allessandro D’Aniello Head of Treasury and Finance at Indesit Group, Gabriele Capolino Editor in Chief Milano Finanza, Yiannis Kypri Group Chief General Manager Bank Of Cyprus, and Isidoro Unda Chairman of the Management Board, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Atradius N.V., and Professor Witold M. Orlowski Former economic advisor to the president of Poland.

“We believe that the key differentiator in our growth strategy is its sustainability that helps us achieve both excellent growth and bottom line results. There are 3 key contributors in making our growth strategy successful: our people, our core competences and our focus. The combination of these three components gives Mellon Poland a sustainable competitive advantage and growth momentum. We are extremely pleased that our efforts were recognized with such a great distinction”, commented Gregory Kotoulas.

Apart from Mellon Poland, among the 99 winners of the 2009 Ruban d’ Honneur were also Bank Pekao SA, Hewlett-Packard, ING, Telekom Austria TA AG, Lloyds TSB Scotland, Societe Generale, Sony Europe, and Lilly France.
